What is a Portable Gantry Crane?

A portable crane, also referred to as a mobile gantry crane, is a portable freestanding lifting system that consisting of two vertical legs connected by a horizontal bridge beam, typically fitted with a movable trolley and hoist. The frame is mounted on swivel castors or wheels, allowing the entire structure to be repositioned within a workspace. The hoist travels along the beam to raise, lower, and precisely position loads within the crane’s rated capacity.

Mobile gantry cranes are commonly used for lifting and positioning heavy materials, machinery, components and supplies in industrial settings like construction sites and warehouses, where fixed overhead cranes are not practical. This can be due to space being limited or accessibility of the area being restricted, or if the lifter often needs to be relocated without struggle.
